For the Rahuli people, the world has just gotten a lot bigger.
Gavin, now the leader of the displaced Rahuli, grows increasingly frustrated with the members of the so-called slave “rebellion.” The former slaves are frightened by the Rahuli’s war-filled history, but the their warrior ways might be the only thing to stop the Orinai from slaughtering them all.
Meanwhile, Lhaurel is held prisoner by the Seven Sisters, the mysterious and ruthless mages who rule the Orinai. Cut off from her magic, she is forced to travel to the Orinai capital under a threat against the Rahuli. But, despite their promises, the Sisters have no intention of letting the Rahuli live.
Their armies march toward the Rahuli once again. To defend his people, Gavin must earn the trust of the former slaves, or nobody stands a chance against the approaching horde.
Can Gavin defeat the Orinai, or have the Rahuli entered a fight they cannot win?
Skies Sharani Series Book 3 eBook Kevin L Nielsen
I admit right off that I enjoyed these three books, but there is such a thing as story fatigue. I know there is a huge trend, especially in the 'fantasy' world, of writing trilogies. I'm not a fan, even though I know there are times a story is just too big for one book (thank you Suzanne Collins). However, I have read quite a few trilogies, and enjoyed them. Those stories must reach a criteria for me - the story is too involved for one book, the main character is awesomely multi-faceted, and it ends at three books. That's why I was both alarmed and outraged to find that Skies wasn't the end of a trilogy, but somewhere in the middle of who knows how many novels. No. Just no. Most stories struggle to fill three books, but five or six? Unless you've written Game of Thrones, you best, as a writer, be sure your story can hold the interest, that your main characters can still inspire the reader's loyalty and devotion, because if they can't, then your series is dead in the water.I devoured the first two books in one week, but it took me almost a month to finish the third. And now I find out there are two, maybe three more. Nuh uh. Not for me. Loved the first two books, but the story is faltering in the third. Too bad. Such a great start...

Skies Sharani Series Book 3 eBook Kevin L Nielsen Reviews
This series of books is a great read. Highly recommended for young & old!
I enjoyed this book and the entire series. This is a winner. There are very few grammatical errors. The story was captivating.
I read all three books, but felt like the end of Skies left you ready for "the rest of the story". Is that all? Did you intend for readers to define the main characters for ourselves or will there be more from Kevin to let us know if Lhaurel will be true to her path and how will that affect the future of all involved. Just wondering.
An excellent third installment to an incredibly original series. The character development was well needed, and I found I enjoyed the characters more in this, than the previous installments. I would definitely recommend this to Dune and high fantasy fans.
I really loved this book even more than the others in the series. One thing I like about this series is that it isn't a girl saves everyone kind of book. .. there are heroes of both sexes and they are awesome. It is refreshing. I like the world building.. it's amazing and I really love the characters. I am sad and glad that this book doesn't end the series. I am certainly looking forward to the next one. This is a clean read for those of you who are like me and care about such things, and it is not gory. . But there is plenty of action and suspense. This series is so good!
Man, this series is freaking fantastic. It continues to remind me of Dune, even now that they are out of the desert. The Seven Sisters bring to mind the bene gesserit, with their past lives and memories...yet not. They aren't the same, just terrifying and powerful with memories stretching back eons. This book also starts to hint at the political aspects that were so prominent in Dune.
Skies took a bit of a different turn from the previous installments, following Lhaurel and Gavin almost exclusively. The two story lines were vastly separated, with Lhaurel heading off towards the center of everything with her sisters, while Gavin hides out with the remains of their civilization. Both are stories of learning, Lhaural's education; Gavin's figuring out leadership and joining his group with the slave people they've joined, but they are in way different places by the end.
I really liked some of the new characters. Benji is awesome, the sisters are fascinating, Josi is sweet and I worry for her, Tadeo...he's tough and cool, although he drove me bonkers with his "this thing"(seriously, every time he talked). Honestly, is there a villain at this point? I can't find anyone to hate....I guess I'm not supposed to like the sisters? That one is a jerk, but the rest seem okay.
All the way through, I felt like the climax was going to be mild and this book was a transitional novel. It was, in a way...establishing Gavin with the new group and Lhaurel's introduction to her "new" life.
This book was good. This whole series is good. It's unpredictable, and well written. I can't wait for more
I usually don't take the time to review a book and/or series, but this series impressed me. Although there weren't a lot of reviews, a few of them pushed me into giving "Sands" a shot. I am so glad I did. At first I thought that this was going to be another author taking the easy way out of world building by dropping the characters in the desert. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but once things started coming together I was pleasantly suprised at the world Mr. Nielsen created. I loved the characters who continue to persevere in a world that makes it difficult.
Book 3 continues the story and had me hooked from page one. One of the things I have loved about the series is the way the preface to each chapter provides information that tells its own story throughout the series.
I'll be waiting on book 4 and 5.
